Mid-19th century Buffalo Lance from Plains Indian tribes with long trade steel blade measuring 18” and approximately 45” overall on original to the period shaft with sinew wrap remaining and copper rivets securing the blade. The condition is good and the wood shows a traces of paint with no cleaning and just normal aging. Indian braves would ride alongside buffaloes and pierce their belly with this type spear causing them to bleed slowly to death and in this manner they would not stampede that heard and fall down one at a time. A museum quality artifact which we would date about 1850. Provenance a major New York Gallery. Est.: $6,000-$12,000.
